Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery

We are committed to providing the best possible care for our patients. The scope of maxillofacial surgery includes dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, and corrective jaw surgery, as well as treatment for infections, cysts, and tumors of the jaws and face.

Maxillofacial Surgeons

The maxillofacial surgeons on our medical staff diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and defects that affect the function of the jaws, and facial structures. Patients may be referred by their dentist or physician for treatment.

Some of the services provided by us include:

Removal of impacted teeth

We provide surgical removal of impacted teeth using modern location techniques. We also offer a management service for patients with severe infections of the jaw.

Wisdom tooth removal

The third molars, also known as ‘wisdom teeth’, are the last teeth to appear (erupt) in the mouth. They usually come through between the ages of 17 and 25.

In most people, there is not enough room in the jaw for them to erupt properly and they often become impacted (unable to come through). This can cause pain and infection. If this happens, it is usually necessary to remove them. The clinical teams in our department work closely together to provide the best possible care for our patients.

Tooth replacement with dental implants

The aim of dental implant treatment is to fully restore the functionality of the tooth and give a healthy, natural appearance.

The need for tooth replacement may have arisen from an accident or injury, or from a problem such as gum disease or decay. We provide fixed and removable tooth replacement for patients who have lost teeth due to injury, disease or decay.

Treatment for oral and facial trauma

If you’re involved in a sporting accident, or if you experience trauma to your mouth or face, help is at hand. Our maxillofacial department provides emergency dental services. If you would like to arrange an appointment or consultation please complete our online booking form.

Dental implants are small screw-like device that is placed into the jaw bone to replace the root of a natural tooth. The implant is then topped with a crown, bridge, or denture to replace the missing tooth or teeth. There are very few complications with placing dental implants; these are usually caused by surgical factors such as infection, bleeding or bone levels being too close to the nerve in the jaw.

Our team of dentists are all highly experienced in dental implant surgery and works together with our oral surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists, and certified orthodontics to ensure that you receive the best possible care.
